Frequently asked questions
This name was born in 2020, when I become obsessed with making natural colors from Earth pigments. Also I didn’t want to be recognizable by my personal name, so I figured out this artistic name. Pigmenterija was combined from two words “pigment” and my name “Valerija”.
Pigmenterija is located in small village near city Velenje, Slovenia (Europe).
Using natural Earth pigments resonates with my love for those earthy tones and also this choice minimize my environmental footprint. Using minimal acrylic medium for securing pigments makes my art very sustainable and friendly to nature.
First I need to find some colorful stones, soil, clay, ashes, chalk and other materials. When I got desired material I have to crushed it and make fine pigment from it. It’s quite long process, but I love every step in it. Then I mix it with some acrylic medium for securing the pigments and then the fun begins. Also I love using raw orange calcite, because it gives paintings those sparkling details and beautiful energy.
I guess I was born to work with my hands, because I’m Physiotherapist by my main profession and I love to help people in need. But I also listen to my inner child so I can express my soul on canvases. So here I am, half Physio, half Painter = Physianter, haha.
My inspiration is nature itself – it’s boundless beauty, amazing textures and palette of earthy colors. Everyday I get the chance to see this beautiful world and I seek to translate it’s wonders onto canvas. It’s in these moments of connection with Earth that my art truly comes to life, inviting all of you to see the beauty that surrounds us.
Now when I have kids my favorite time to create is when I have some free time, it doesn’t matter when… but I love to paint in daily light, specially on the sun.
Yes indeed! First that it comes to my mind is Jonna Jinton, because she’s all into nature and I love her living style. Also I adore art journeys from Jamie Orr, Jessyjo Darling, Molly Supplee and many more. They’re giving me motivation and I love watching them creating their masterpieces.
I think most significance reason is that my artworks shows reflection of Nature’s beauty, where in fast-paced and often disconnected society it reminds people of inspiring nature’s beauty. As mention above by using natural pigments and sustainable practices, my art sends a powerful message about importance of enviromental responsibility. And for many people art evoke emotions and my vision is to wake people and connect them again with natural world. So in this artificial era my saying for them is: “Bring Earth energy into your home. It will heal your soul.”
Right now I don’t take any order, because I simply don’t have time. Maybe someday, till then follow my art journey.
Here I must agree when Ellen Johnson Sirleaf once said: “If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough.” My desire is to go with my family living on the open road, exploring the beauty of nature and foraging for unique pigments that the world has to offer. Imagine making special paintings with those pigments. I just love the idea. I said it, now I just have to live it.
